I don't like her hair, neither how you colored the background (matter of style, you like or not), but her eyes are great, and her expression is very well done. Her facec is really good. I'll give +6 :)

I really really love the expression on his/her (?) face.

Thank you guys very much for your comments :)
Actually the face was what I wanted to focuss on and than the rest of the picture developed afterwards. I didn't really have a concept :/ The background just came up to my mind, cos soon there will be a medival festival in my town and inspired by that (huh...Im sooo excited ) I painted this bg instead of some lonely tree in a blurry landscape (as my boyfriend suggested :p) Anyway I saw a lot of comments on other pics, that many bgs are too simple. I guess, I wanted to avoid that, too. Now I'm thinking: maybe the blurry landscape in blue and green would do nicely, too...
The hair didn't turn out as I wanted it: definatly need to get tutorials on that. And on horselegs ... and... and... ;) Wanna learn a LOT!

The color is very, very flat and monochromatic. For a picture to work, color composition is no less important than spatial one. Paint in earnest; it is not enough to put spots of flat, slightly darkened and lightened color on the image.

Good job with the background and her face.

... I don't think I take it not earnest.
Thank you very much for the colour advice (honestly) ...but this phrase was not necessary, I think.

I like it because it is lifelike without being too realistic - you can tell it has been "created" rather than copied from a reference image. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work.

You seem able to achieve a good scene complexity. Good work!
All you need now is to refine your use of color. I know arenhaus can be a little on the blunt side sometimes, but his advice is good.
For instance, if you're using green, try not to use light shades of the same green for highligts and darker shades for shadows. Experiment with a touch of red or purple in the shadows, and perhaps a touch of yellow or blue in the highligts, depending on your general lighting situation.
Be mindful of reflected light (light not coming from your main light source). You took a tentative step in that direction with the rider's forearm, and it makes a difference; it gives it a sense of volume. Well, enough of that.
Let me just add that if this is your first attempt to use a tablet, then it was a good one. Keep it up!

I think the hair looks too much like straw or something like that, It should be more lively and reflective (I don`t mean you have to turn the piece into a shampoo ad, mind you :)). The background is rather busy and could use some more depth... Having said that, I am fascinated by her face and expression. Maybe you could work in another version with a different and less distracting background, so you can focus on what is best achieved in this pic.

@ augustopatino: yep... you are probably right with the straw. I thought of indirect light, where hair doesnt reflect a lot. It looks too stiff to me.
I guess I will just let this pic be this way and take your advices into the next work. The more I look at it I get tired of it, of the motif. Sometimes it feels better to do something completely new.
Thanks for the C&Cs. :)
